Modular Lizard Refugia (MLR)

The MLR is a tileable, field-deployable artificial retreat system designed specifically for New Zealand's endemic skink and gecko species. Each unit replicates the thermal gradients and cryptic shelter structure of natural rocky refugia, providing a reliable, inspectable monitoring station. Used individually or clustered, MLR systems enable standardised monitoring sites across diverse landscapes with consistent, comparable results across sites and seasons.
